Terms of sale and use

Last updated: 22 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Simaudis Ltd about buying and using Pulse, Pulse: Pocket and Pulse Online. By creating an account, starting the trial, buying or using any of them, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

Who we are

Pulse, Pulse: Pocket and Pulse Online are made and sold by Simaudis Ltd (“Simaudis”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in Scotland with company number [company number to follow], whose registered office is at [registered office to follow]. You can contact us at [contact email to follow].

Your licence

When you buy Pulse, Simaudis grants a licence to use Pulse to you, the person who bought it, through the Pulse account you bought it with. The licence is:

  • Personal. It is yours alone. It applies only to the person who purchased it and cannot be used by anyone else, including friends, family, bandmates, collaborators, clients, employees or other members of a studio.
  • Non-transferable. You can't sell, give, lend, rent, sub-license or otherwise pass your licence or your account to anyone else, and we won't move it between accounts.
  • One computer at a time. You can use Pulse on one computer at a time, on Windows or Mac. You can move the licence to another computer by signing in to Pulse there; the first computer then stops being licensed.
  • Tied to your account. Pulse checks your licence online when you sign in and at least once every 14 days. If your licence is refunded, reversed by a lost payment dispute or withdrawn under these terms, Pulse stops working on that account.

If you buy Pulse for a business, the licence is still for one named person: the account holder. Each additional person who needs Pulse needs their own purchase and their own account. Everyone who takes part in a live session or shared project also needs their own licence and their own Pulse Online subscription (see Pulse Online). Updates to Pulse are included with your licence. The software is licensed to you, not sold: Simaudis keeps ownership of Pulse and everything in it.

What you can't do

You must not, and must not let anyone else:

  • share your password, your account or your licence with anyone, or sign in to Pulse on behalf of another person;
  • copy, resell, redistribute, host or publish the Pulse installer, your licence or your account for others to use;
  • get around, disable or interfere with the licence check, the trial, or any limit on a feature (for example by resetting a computer's identity or creating further accounts to restart the trial);
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or take apart Pulse, except as the law gives you the right to despite this term;
  • use Pulse, its servers or its collaboration features to break the law or anyone else's rights, or to attack, overload or get unauthorised access to our systems or other people's accounts.

We may suspend or end a licence or account that breaks this section, and where the licence was bought through a payment that is later reversed, we may withdraw it.

Samples and live sessions

Live sessions, shared projects and cloud projects work by copying the audio in your project to our servers and to the computer of everyone taking part. Putting a sound into a live session is therefore not just playing it on your own computer: it is copying and sending it to other people. For that reason:

  • Only share audio you have the right to share. Don't upload, import, play or send into a live session, shared project or cloud project any audio that is copyrighted unless you own it or have permission that covers sharing it with the other people taking part. This includes samples taken from commercial recordings, other artists' stems and acapellas, and ripped or downloaded tracks.
  • Licensed sample packs usually don't cover this. Many sample libraries let you use their sounds in your own music but forbid passing the raw files to anyone else, even a collaborator. Check the licence of every library you use. If it doesn't allow redistribution, don't put those files in a shared session; each person should load the sound from their own copy instead.
  • This includes stems you make. Splitting a track into stems in Pulse doesn't change who owns the music in it. You can only share stems of music you own or are allowed to share.
  • You are responsible for what you add. Each person is responsible for the audio they bring into a session, whoever started the session. By adding audio you confirm you have the rights described above. The owner of a project is responsible for who they invite.

We don't check what you upload in advance, but we can remove audio, end a session, close a cloud project, suspend or delete an account, and withhold access to Pulse Online if we are told, or reasonably believe, that audio breaks someone's rights or these terms. If you are a rights holder and believe something in Pulse infringes your copyright, tell us at [contact email to follow] with enough detail to find it, and we will look at it promptly. We may end the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe copyright.

If someone makes a claim because of audio you shared, you are responsible for that audio, and you agree to cover our reasonable losses from the claim to the extent the law allows.

Your music and your content

You own the music and recordings you make with Pulse, and Pulse takes no rights in them. By saving or sharing a project, comment or recording in Pulse Online or Pocket, you give us permission to store it, copy it as needed to run the service, and deliver it to the people you chose to share it with, and for no other purpose. You can use Pulse's built-in sounds, presets and factory samples in your own music, including music you release or sell, without paying royalties; you may not release them on their own, or re-package them as sample packs, presets or instruments for others.

The trial

Pulse offers a free 14-day trial, once per account and once per computer. During the trial some features are unavailable: exporting, more than 8 arrangement tracks, third-party plug-ins, collaboration and cloud projects. When it ends, Pulse asks you to buy a licence; your projects are untouched. The trial is for the person whose account it is, and these terms apply to it in full.

Pulse Online

Pulse Online is an optional monthly subscription for Pulse owners. It adds friends, live collaboration, chat, comments, cloud and shared projects, shared mixes and Pocket uploads. Like the licence, it is personal to the person who subscribes: everyone taking part in a live session or shared project needs their own Pulse Online subscription, not only the project's owner. It renews each month until you cancel; you can cancel any time from your account, and it keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for. Without it, Pulse itself keeps working; friends, collaboration, chat, cloud projects and Pocket uploads don't, but you can still open and download your own cloud projects and recordings.

Payment and delivery

Price. The price is shown on this website and at checkout, including any VAT or sales tax that applies where you live. To buy, you must be 18 or over, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.

Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. Depending on where you are, Stripe may handle the sale for us as reseller; if so, checkout says so, Stripe's terms of sale cover the payment and tax, and these terms still cover your licence and your use of Pulse. Where you choose an instalment option such as Klarna or Clearpay, your agreement for the instalments is with that provider.

Delivery. Pulse is digital content. It's added to your account as soon as your payment completes, and you can download it from your account page straight away. Pulse Online starts as soon as its first payment completes.

Refunds

14 days, no questions asked. If Pulse isn't for you, ask for a refund within 14 days of buying it and we'll refund the full price, for any reason, even if you've already downloaded and used it.

Pulse Online. You can have your first Pulse Online payment refunded if you ask within 14 days of first subscribing. After that you can cancel at any time and Pulse Online keeps working until the end of the month you've paid for, but later monthly payments aren't refunded.

How to ask. Email [contact email to follow] from the email address of your Pulse account, saying what you'd like refunded. We'll refund to the payment method you used within 14 days of your request; your bank or card may take a few more days to show it. If you paid with Klarna or Clearpay, the refund goes back through them and they adjust or cancel your remaining instalments.

What a refund means. When Pulse is refunded, your licence ends and Pulse stops working on your computer; when Pulse Online is refunded, it ends straight away. Your projects and recordings stay yours: files on your computer aren't touched, and you can still download your own cloud projects.

Your legal rights. This refund promise is in addition to your rights under the law, not instead of them. Under UK law the right to cancel digital content normally ends once you start downloading it; our 14-day refund applies anyway. If Pulse is faulty or not as described, you also have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 whenever the fault appears, such as a repair, a replacement or a refund. Where someone buys and refunds Pulse again and again, we may decline refunds beyond those the law requires.

Disputes. If something is wrong with a payment, please contact us before disputing it with your bank; we can usually sort it out faster. A payment dispute that is decided against us ends the licence or subscription it paid for.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Pulse at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing [contact email to follow]. We may suspend or end your licence, account or access to Pulse Online if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, including the sections on your licence, what you can't do, and samples and live sessions. We will tell you why unless the law stops us. If we end a licence for a reason other than your breach, we will refund what you paid for the period you can't use. Sections that are meant to carry on after the agreement ends, such as those on ownership and liability, do.

Liability

Pulse is provided with reasonable care and skill, but audio software can't be guaranteed to be free of faults, and we can't promise that Pulse or Pulse Online will always be available or work with every computer, interface or plug-in. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited. Subject to that, we are not responsible for losses that we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, for business losses such as loss of profit or income, or for the loss of work from a crash, and our total liability to you for anything connected with Pulse is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Keep your own backups of projects and recordings.

General

Your account. Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens on it.

Changes. We may update Pulse, and these terms, from time to time. If we change these terms in a way that matters we'll tell you in Pulse or by email before the change takes effect, and the date above will change. If you don't agree, you can stop using Pulse and ask for a refund of any period you can't use.

Other things. If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. Nobody else has rights under these terms.

Law. These terms are governed by Scots law. You can bring a claim in the Scottish courts or, if you live in England and Wales or Northern Ireland, in the courts there. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of any consumer laws of your country that can't be set aside by agreement.
